Family Thais recently opened their restaurant in the West End after serving their food from The Shed at the Dallas Farmers Market for the past five months. Family Thais Asian Bistro offers a wide range of Thai dishes, including curries, noodles, and fried rice—most of which can be made vegan upon request. Vegan protein options include tofu, portobello mushrooms, and vegan shrimp (something they learned about from Farmers Market neighbor Vegan Vibrationz).
We were invited to try them out and really enjoyed it. The Corn Patties were light, fluffy, and had an amazing flavor. Equally impressive were the Crispy Spring Rolls, which were fresh and fried well, but not too oily. For entrees, we had Pad Ke Mao with Tofu and Thai Red Curry, which was rich, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the Vegan Shrimp from All Vegetarian Inc.
As a large number of customers are already ordering vegetarian or vegan items, Family Thais promises to be a welcome vegan-friendly addition to the downtown scene as they add new items on the menu to reflect the demand!
